Life Cycle Logic is proudly helping the Australian-owned gentlemen’s clothier M.J. Bale to become carbon neutral.
In 2019 M.J. Bale began working behind the scenes with life cycle assessment expert Andrew D. Moore, to complete a carbon neutral scoping study. The scoping study aimed to map the course of action of becoming carbon neutral, which included: assessing data availability throughout the supply chain, identifying emission reduction strategies and locating suitable carbon offset partners.
“The journey to becoming carbon neutral is a step-by-step process, but it’s a long-term commitment to accountability and continuous improvement.
Scientist Andrew Moore of Life Cycle Logic has begun a formal carbon footprint assessment of the entire organisation, including M.J. Bale’s extended ecosystem of partners and suppliers.”
“As an Australian-owned brand we enjoy certain privileges of the land and environment,” says M.J. Bale Founder & CEO, Matt Jensen. “But these privileges carry responsibilities. We recognise that future generations of Australians will inherit the decisions we make today. And as we saw in the recent bushfires, if we lose our environment, we lose our communities and livelihoods. In my mind, investing in the environment is investing in our collective future – we don’t consider it optional.”
While the initial carbon footprint scoping study was underway in 2019, in the wake of the devastating Australian bushfires Matt Jensen challenged the team to make his carbon neutrality dream a reality within a year. “The journey to becoming carbon neutral is a step-by-step process,” he said. “But it’s a long-term commitment to accountability and continuous improvement.”
This carbon neutral project is titled ‘M.J. Bale Infinity’, inspired by the infinite and looping nature of the journey. It includes multiple and parallel emission reduction and energy efficient workstreams, including the world-first farm trial of Carbon Neutral Wool.
